How we Fixed the Problem

DESIGN PROCESS

Some users attempted to send money to their favorite contacts without realizing that not all of their contacts were added to the favorites list.

Evidence:

  • All users saw the profile pictures of favorite contacts and instinctively looked there first.

  • It appears that some users were not aware that only their favorite contacts were being displayed.

  • It was unclear how Recent transaction are supposed to work.

The research team recruited approximately 140 participants under the age of 35 to gather insights into their financial management habits. We conducted in-depth interviews using a set of 16 questions. Based on the participants' responses, we identified key trends and user pain points, which helped us define the top priorities for our product design.

Susanne has just finished her master degree in economics and has started her career as an assistant manager. She traveled and worked through New Zealand for a year between her bachelor and master program. She is currently single and living in a shared apartment with roommates. She enjoys travel and music festivals.

GOALS & NEEDS

  • Needs a better overview of her bank accounts.

  • Start her career as Office Manager and earn more money.

ABOUT

Paul has a passion for both technology and financial management. He has been living in Berlin with his girlfriend for two years now and is now looking to settle down. He wants to invest his hard-earned money in various financial instruments to help him purchase his first home.

GOALS & NEEDS

  • Needs a quicker way to transfer money between different bank accounts.

  • Wants to have his spending under control.

  • Streamline the authentication from different bank account.

  • Remove “Recent Transactions.”

  • Redesigning the interface to display all contacts, with favorite contacts placed at the top for easeir access, all other contacts goes next like a contact list

  • Add a heart button or another intuitive option that allows users to designate favorite contacts would improve the user experience.

I don’t like to type the long account number in order to transfer money.

  • Has lost the count of his bank accounts and cards.

  • Each bank has a different two factor login authentication process.

  • Using too many different payment methods.

This was my first UI/UX design project, which broadened my perspective on user-centered solutions. Working in a mid-sized team, I gained valuable experience in collaboration, and my manager was very satisfied with my work. The project made a strong impact by improving the user experience and streamlining financial management for the app.
